Breaking the silence, a single rifle shot echoed through the valley and struck Stan in the chest. A voice amplified by a bullhorn came from an unknown direction, shouting out with intense hatred, “You are evil and I don’t believe you! Die now before you destroy us all!”
When the bullet struck Stan’s skin, it sent ricocheting waves of sparks outward. Electric, lightening stretched like arms out from the sparks toward the man with the rifle. The man hid behind trees to the far left of the crowd, until he was lifted up by the lightening arms. He hung there, over the valley, writhing in penetrating pain – a pain in which everyone in the crowd experienced for just a moment.
Stan slowly scanned the crowd. He heard scatterings of, “What happened to him?”, “What’s going on here?” and, “We are going to be turned into slaves!” The scattering of words came from a specific type of person… the kind who would never change, but instead would infect everyone else with their wrong thinking.
Stan reached out his hands over the crowd. Lightening reached out and snatched up every one of those people infected with wrong-thinking into the sky. Each one began to vibrate and exploded, just like the first man with the rifle.
Immediately, numerous people began to kneel down to their knees in reverence to Stan’s power. An initial exuberance filled Stan once he realized they were relinquishing, but he knew this was not right.
“Do not kneel to me!” Stan roared. “Stand up and look inside yourselves. Listen to the power we all can have inside of us, if you accept it. Then and only then will you know how to change your lives. Then and only then will you be able to change!”
The kneeling people stood. They looked around in confusion, until Stan repeated the words, “Listen to the Power! Accept it and listen. You must… or we all die!”
Using the energy inside of him, Stan lifted himself into the air and soared slowly over the crowd. His golden, shiny skin oscillated with strengthening power. He look into each person’s eyes as he passed over, watching, judging. Only, it wasn’t him who was judging. And it wouldn’t be him who would act if they didn’t listen.
A hungry charge of excitement flowed through Stan’s heart as he relished the power bestowed to him – a power he controlled, at least for a period of time. He smiled thinking of his… of the Powerful One's plan.
If not next week, then the following... I'm still figuring out what's going to happen next....
